Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman attempt Dhoni’s ‘Helicopter Shot’ at Ranchi

Cricketers-turned-commentators Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Brett Lee and Dean Jones attempted Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s ‘Helicopter Shot’ in a challenge at Ranchi during the first India-Australia T20I. The commentators tried to knock the ball for a six with the shot but were unable to do so. Sehwag was unanimously voted as the winner of the contest by the commentators.

During the first T20I of the three-match series against Australia in Ranchi, the commentary team comprising Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Dean Jones and Brett Lee tried their hands at emulating MS Dhoni’s famous ‘Helicopter Shot’.

Ranchi, which is the hometown of MS Dhoni, witnessed a rain-curtailed match which the hosts won by nine wickets. But to keep the spectators on their feet, Sehwag, Laxman, Jones and Lee tried knocking the ball out of the park while emulating the Helicopter Shot.

Organised by Star Sports, Sehwag was the only one to come close in paralleling the shot. Laxman, Jones and Lee put in some commendable effort, but were nowhere close to clearing the boundary. Even the others were of the view that the Nawab of Nazafgarh was the winner.

India thumped Australia in a rain-interrupted first T20 match by nine wickets, credits to Duckworth Lewis method. Bowling first Indian bowlers demolished the Aussie batting line up. Australia registered 118 for 8 in 18.4. As per D/L method India had to make 48 in 6 overs, which was easily chased down by Virat Kohli (22* off 14) and Shikhar Dhawan (15* off 12).

The second T20I will be played in Guwahati on October 10.
